Do you feel that the recent crisis of confidence in the US among other nations also reflects a global loss of confidence in the idea of the American Dream?
No, people keep immigrating to America in search for their dream and to make something for themselves, but it has given us a global image that the Americas are simply expanding their borders as any other Empire.

Answer to the question:
I do not feel that the recent crisis of confidence in the US among other nations also reflects a global loss of confidence in the ideal of the American dream. This is because the so called American dream its more of a trip to hope: to a new and better life. Although the lack of confidence the US is having among other nations its widely known all around the world for its actions in war, primarily, the american life is greatly wanted by poor people that have the need to leave their countries to have a nice and decent life in the states. This may point at US or at its president as harsh and abusive but it wont make that much of a change.
Do you feel that the recent crisis of confidence in the US among other nations also reflects a global loss of confidence in the idea of the American Dream?
NO...I think that even though US right know is lacking a lot of confidence, people still have hope, thats the so called "American dream". People still have faith that they are going to progress and be succesful and have a better life in the US. Us US citizens can se for ourselves how emigrants still try to migrate to the US even though they know of the conflict that is occuring to this day.

Do you feel that the recent crisis of confidence in the US among other nations also reflects a global loss of confidence in the ideal of the American Dream?
No, because people are still seeing US as their salvation board to a better life, for them and their families even if US is under a crisis. For them the American Dream still exist and they have the hope to have a better life, some day.

Do you feel that the recent crisis of confidence in the US among other nations also reflects a global loss of confidence in the idea of the American Dream?
Yes, I think that the image of the “American Dream” is falling down because people are realizing that going to the USA is not going to change their lives so easy. Maybe we do not see it that much because we are looking from just a point of view but if you search for news from other countries around the world you would notice that the people are loosing their trust in the “American Dream”. It is true that people are still immigrating, but now they do it keeping in mind that they have to work very hard if they want to progress. New laws for immigrants and the war situation are making people think many times before taking the decision to immigrate. For me, all that reflect a global loss of confidence.
Comment on Kasandra Viera's post:
I guess you are right in the part where you explain that people from other countries or regions are seeing US as not that great of a place anymore because of the war but still hundreds of people from far away that suffer great loss in so many ways want to live in US so they can have the "great" life that they have always dreamed of. So I still think that the loss of confidence in the US because of war and many other things doesn't affect US at all or at least not now.

Do you feel that the recent crisis of confidence in the US among other nations also reflects a global loss of confidence in the idea of the American dream?
I don't think that the lost of confidence in the US has any influence on the fact that people may or may not seek the "American Dream", because a lot of people still surch for a better life and most of them when they did of a country were you live better they think of the United States. Even us puertoricans, even though we are a commonwealth of the United States, still see it as the perfect example of what a good living and economical status should be like. I know alot of people that say that when they finish studying and are ready to get a well paying job, they are going to move to the United States, and when you ask them why they say that, they that over there everything is better. So therefore, many people are still searching for that " American Dream" and are waiting until is their turn to live it.
Commenting on one of the students comments Kasandra has a very good argument but I don't believe that it represents the reality of this situation because alot of the population in the United States is composed by inmigrants or foreigners.
Do you feel that the recent crisis of confidence in the US among other nations also reflects a global loss of confidence in the idea of the American Dream?
I believe that a logic result of the lack of confidence from other nations, would be at least, doubts about the American Dream. Even if many people still travel from great distances in search of a "better" life, it doesn't necessarily mean that they have the same expectations that others had long before them. It may be a sign that where they come from things are worst and they would have nothing to loose. I think people still have a hope in the american life style, but by the current crisis in the US its only natural for people to do more thinking if its worth the risk, specially now with new laws against immigrants.
Comment on isha m. rodriguez post:
I disagree with you, because most of the people that say that they want to travel to the US to get a better life, just proves that they are outdated. My point is, that people should do research about the current situations and crisis, not long ago US would have been the paradise for any other country, but things have change. People probably do get a better paying job in the US but that only reflects the obvious crisis that PR is going through and the same with other countries. It also means that US does have something to offer because there are still many who search for it, but i think its undeniable that things were much better before, hopes and expectations were higher, and that shows that the crisis does affect the ideal of the american dream.

I think that the crisis of confidence in the United States among others nations not reflect a global loss of confidence in the ideal of the American Dream. The crisis of confidence in the United States among other nations is an effect of the war. Persons continue immigrating to United States because think that can found the American Dream. United States offer to them a better style of live and many opportunities that in their countries not offer.

Well, I agree with my classmates in the part that people are still immigrating to the USA but my point is that the loss of confidence in the idea of the American Dream is happening right know. It is not something unreal because people are realizing that USA is an empire, like many others, that is going to fall down someday. That day it’s getting closer each day. The situation of war and the 911 makes stronger that thinking.
Absolutely not, the american dream is still wished by many and the United States still have the same reputation of powerful nation they have been for years.

Do you feel that the recent crisis of confidence in the US among other nations also reflects a global loss of confidence in the idea of the American Dream?
Yes, I feel that the recent crisis of confidence in the US among other nations also reflects a global loss of confidence in the idea of the American Dream because millions of people all over the world risk their lives in search for the American Dream. They believed their future and well being will be much better in this new country than in their own. But these dream with all the international and domestic conflicts like the Iraq war, terrorism, devaluation of the US dollar, loss of US power is getting a nightmare. Today being a US citizen and having a US passport is a threat to your life and your security when you go out of the US because many people, like Europeans, don’t like American people. The US today is not that strong power it use to be years ago and has loss respect and confidence from other countries and people around the world and so has the American Dream lost part of its magic.
I don't agree because the US doesn't have the same power they have years ago. Some people are still migrating looking for the American Dream, but some end up disappointed that they don't get what they hope.

Do you feel that the recent crisis of confidence in the United States among other nations also reflects a global loss of confidence in the ideal of the American dream?
Yes, because many people don't see United State like that powerful nation that was 20 years ago and are still some people that immigrate to US to found a better stile of life but is not the same bucause the US are loss like the magic of the American Dream.

Answer to the question:
I think it doesn't reflect the loss of confidence on the american dream due to that people now see America as an even stronger country, due how easily the U.S. defeated the Iraqui army. Every day more and more people want to seek refuge on the US and wish to realize "The American Dream".
Comment on Franciscos answer -
I agree totally people keep immigrating. The way the US has taken control of Iraq in such a short time demonstrates the power it posseses as a nation.

I agree with some of my classmates that believe that the American Dream is still up today. I also agree with the ones that believe it is vanishing. Why? Because today we see both, we see people that believe that in America life is beautiful and good. We still se today a lot of immigration to the US. But still, we also see, that a lot of people is realizing that these war has put the Us in a big hole. People, not all, are starting to think about the consequences and how, this pointless war is leading US, little by little, in a low position. Right now, even the US dollar is going down. The euro is starting to gain more power over the US dollar. Because of these, people are realizing that everything that comes up, at one point is going to come down, and this going to happen to the US if they are not careful and if they don’t start thinking the right way.

I think that you are right some people still immigrated to the USA trying to have a better life and some just don't believe any more in the American Dream. Why? Because of everything that is happening in the USA rigth now.

Do you feel that the recent crisis of confidence in the US among other nations also reflects a global loss of confidence in the idea of the American Dream?
Yes, the image of US to the world had been changing. If some one is going to follow the American Dream had to see why northamericans are losing confidence. That is going to help each person to decide to follow it or not. The loss of confidence in the American Dream reflects the loss of confidence because US promote this idealized type of life to the world, to get more importance to the world and gain some control in the minds of people that believe in it.

Reaction to Francisco Hernandez comment
Yes people keep immigrating to USA but they have in mind not the ideal type of life that USA promoted, don't you think that Bush's no reason (well there's a reason money, power, black gold) war in Iraq affect the concept of the people to USA?, and were not in times of conquer or expanding borders well not going to other place to tell people how to live and taking their resources.

Do you feel that the recent crisis of confidence in the US among other nations also reflects a global loss of confidence in the idea of the American Dream?
I don’t really think so because although other countries are losing their confidence in the United States, America is still the nation with the power. America is losing in some way its reputation and glory but is still a place where the immigrants can go and find a better quality of life, or at least a better life than the one they had before.
Jennifer Ruiz Hernandez:
I agree with Juliann Acosta’s comment because as she says immigrants may consider the president harsh and abusive but they still wish to come because they hope for a better life and they know they can find it in America.
