Assignment
Essay: Reading the history of the world
By: Isabel Allende

1. What is it that makes the essay a narrative/descriptive essay?
What makes Isabel Allende is that her essay is like a telling a small story. For example when she tells about her uncle and what he did, another thing is when she tells briefly a little bit of her family. The part that shows that is descriptive is when she tells about the impressions and how things were and are. Another thing is that a narrative and descriptive essay relies on a personal voice and Isabel uses her own voice on the essay by telling how reading has been something important in her life.

2. Imagine a reading plan for your children, and write about it. Will you leave reading development exclusive? How will you regulate your child’s reading and television viewing habits? Do you agree whit Allende that reading can open children to “an infinite landscape”?

I believe the plan for reading I would make for my children would joust basically be to read them every day since their birth and teaching them to read young so this way they can start seen what they like and read about it so they can learn about

everything. No, I would not leave the development of my children to joust teachers I would help on their development. I don’t believe I would regulate their reading and television habit. I would regulate them by giving certain hours for certain things so they do a bit of everything but at the same time not overdoing it. Yes I do agree whit Allende when she expresses that reading can open to children “an infinite landscape”.
There are book of so many things and full of so much information it’s hard to believe that something has not been written. Reading is like traveling you see places that are amazing. Reading is a great way of letting children know about everything that is possible and unbelievable. Other things that children can do whit books is learn to be logical because they have more information wish means more knowledge about life and the world.

The fuel in life is gone
Every day is precious and full of potential for it to be a wonderful experience. I see how much we lose ourselves to the things we do in life. Is not normal to live stressed and is not good for health or for a social life. I kind of wondered since my childhood what would be an adventure this days, since there were many heroic feats and stories that seem unreal which some of them are and others are not. Imagination is a good tool for simulation, so I played with to see how an amazing life would fit here and now. My references were vague about today’s happenings, leading me to think in a unnatural and a without-purpose way of life. That of course was my childhood days, meaning that I didn’t think much or maybe anything about a purpose in life. My mind was just enjoy each day as it passed by, not having to worry so much about my necessities because they were most of them supplied by my fathers.
Fun, that was one of my favorite words, it made me jump of happiness and be creative at the moment of an activity. I wonder now, what has changed? Where’s the fuel of happiness, where’s the adventure and the life I’m looking for? Was it just made to last so little time? Isn’t childhood the beginning of the human life; like a preparation to what’s coming? If so, then it should mean that my life should get better every day and very year. I can totally see this is not happening so my guess is there’s something wrong, there must be something missing. Now instead of thinking about today I’ll checkout what I had yesterday that is missing at the moment. It’s clear that I had such an innocence and by that do not mean ignorance. This helped me to be generous by giving of what was mine and it really felt good. Anyway, my point is that if we had a good life before we can also have it today and still have fun while living in this world. What we need is a father who is bigger than our circumstances and can supply us we what we really need.
